Visual Arts Foundations

Students in the Visual Arts class learn how to incorporate the elements (Line, Shape, Form, Color, Space, Texture, Value) and Principles of Design (Balance, Harmony, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, Variety, and Unity )into their artwork. Students will learn these techniques through a variety of different mediums that will vary from semester to semester.

Students in the Visual Arts Foundations classes are allowed to make their own choices about which projects they would be most interesting in doing. Therefore, not all students will do exactly the same work. This opportunity is provided to students in an attempt to increase student engagement and accommodate the unique interests and skills of each student choosing to take art as part of their high school experience.
